happy halloween!

For Halloween, I thought I would post a list of some of my favorite scary movies I like to watch this time of year. I pretty much keep watching until after Thanksgiving.

THE HAUNTING (1963) (the remake was awful)
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
THE OTHERS
CARNIVAL OF SOULS (newly discovered this year)- 1962 (aka Corridors of Evil)
NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

I need some more! If you know of any, let me know. I like atmospheric and creepy rather than gory. Black and White is always good (unless its bad....)

I offer as an example of BAD- THE TERROR with a very young Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff, directed by Roger Corman. I bought this one for a dollar at Target. It was HORRIBLE. Might be ok if you were drunk and watching with a big group of rowdy individuals, with popcorn you could throw at the screen.

Hydeus Kiatta

Hydeus is a student at the USC Thornton School, and a jazz vocalist. She is battling Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

just so you know, there was no meaning in my posting the lyrics to "thanks for all the fish". i wasn't saying a cryptic farewell. i just watched hitchhikers guide to the galaxy last night, and loved the song. it hasn't left my brain for one second since. i think i was singing it in my sleep. i'm hoping by posting it, it may leave me. its kind of driving me insane.

the movie had some fun elements, but kind of lost its fizz about midway through. it did inspire me to dig out my collection to start reading them over again. its been years.

and now, a few words from our friends the singing dolphins...

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish
